Prayer rally held for Charlottesville victims and to dispel hate

East Texas religious leaders host prayer rally for Charlottesville victims

LONGVIEW - The violence in Charlottesville has affected the hearts and minds of many East Texans. Tonight religious leaders met with people at the Gregg County Courthouse to spread love.

"We want people to know that the hate shown in Charlottesville will not be tolerated," East Texan Susan Rybon says. "This is a good time to care and love on another."

During the event scriptures were read, prayers, and songs were led by various religions. Some people even wore clothes with signs of peace.

All three of the Charlottesville victims were recognized and prayers were given for them.

Longview Police and Gregg County Sheriff deputies held a strong presence at the event. Many people thanked them for being at the event.
