Residents jump out windows to escape Kilgore apartment fire

An early morning fire at the Stone Ridge Apartments in Kilgore injures 2 and displaces dozens.

KILGORE - A fire broke out just after daybreak at the Stone Ridge Apartments in Kilgore, forcing some residents to jump from their second-story homes to safety.

According to the Kilgore Police Department, some injuries occurred from those who jumped, but none are life-threatening.

The fire consumed one building containing eight units. All three Kilgore Fire Department stations responded to battle the fire.

Once the scene is cooled, The Kilgore Fire Marshal will begin its investigation into the cause.

Displaced residents are waiting on the Red Cross for help at the Forest Home Baptist Church.
