AUSTIN - Funeral arrangements for Texas DPS Trooper Damon Allen, who was fatally shot during a traffic stop on Thanksgiving day will begin on Thursday, Nov. 30 in Teague, Texas.
Trooper Allen, 41, proudly served his community for 15 years and is survived by his wife, son and three daughters.
Visitation is set for Thursday Nov. 30, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home on 900 U.S. Highway 84 in Teague, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Mexia High School football stadium on 1100 North Bailey St. in Mexia, Texas.
Interment will follow the services at the Salem Cemetery on County Road 731.
Trooper Allen was commissioned as a Trooper in July of 2002 and was stationed in Groesbeck at the time of his death.
He is the 221st officer to die in the line of duty since 1823, and the first Trooper to die in a shooting incident since 2008.
