TYLER - Sheriff Larry R. Smith and the Smith County Sheriff's Office is presenting free training to the public for active shooter situations.
The training, known as "Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events", will teach people what happens during an event.
People who attend will learn how human responses to such events are both physical and psychological, common actions of the actor, law enforcement response and actions people can take to help yourself and your loved ones survive an attack.
Training will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Green Acres Baptist Church on 1607 Troup Hwy in Tyler.
Police would like to advise that this subject is graphic and some portions of the training may not be suitable for children.
Parents are strongly encouraged not to bring children younger than 13 to the training.
