Sunrise Paw Park opens in Tyler

Sunrise Paw Park was opened to the public on Saturday and had many visitors.

TYLER - A first for Tyler is a place for dogs and their owners to enjoy some sunshine and quality time together.
Something Amy Stokes and her dog had been looking for.
"I drove by it the other day when I was practicing driving and we thought it would be perfect for my dog because he is really social," Stokes said.
That's why she and many other dog owners swung by the new Sunrise Paw Park in Tyler on Saturday.
Located just off Tollway 49 and Old Jacksonville highway, the new dog park gives dogs and their owners some "off the leash" time.
"Very good turnout today, I'd say," Stokes said.
However, the park is not without it's critics. Posts on CBS 19's Facebook page said the park may invite
lawsuits and something more family-friendly should have been built.
But if turnout is any indication, families and their four legged siblings seemed to be warming up to the idea of the dog park.
Tyler Sunrise Rotary Club member Jo Dobbs is delighted about the new park.
"This is really a dream come true. I just hope everybody in the community will enjoy it," Dobbs said.
The park is complete with large spaces for both small and big dogs and a "Bark-N-Bath" dog washing station. It even has a combo owner-dog water fountains.
The first of its kind dog park in Tyler is something Dobb's hopes people will visit over and over again.
"It's free and it's open, so we just want people to enjoy it," Dobbs said.
