Man in Southpark Center standoff surrenders without incident

TYLER - Police responded to a situation at the Southpark Shopping Center around 10 a.m. Monday morning on reports of a man with a gun.

One driver live streamed the action on Facebook as well:

Initially it was thought that the man was at or near the Feliciano Financial Group building; however, the man was spotted in his vehicle in the parking lot of the shopping center.

Police say the 75-year-old man had a rifle but did not threaten anyone but himself. After a brief standoff, the man surrendered without incident.

According to Tyler Police spokesperson Andy Erbaugh, the man was suicidal and will get the help he needs.
