TJC students battle packed parking lots

TJC students continue to battle packed parking lots this year.

TYLER - Some students at Tyler Junior College are finding it hard to make it to class on time because they cant find a parking spot.

Virty Garica a sophomore at TJC told us  "I hate the fact that I have to show up about thirty minutes before my class starts just to find a parking spot." .

"The college has enough parking spots, but they may not be exactly where students want them". said TJC Police Chief Randy Melton. He acknowledges that parking can be an issue, and says part of the problem could stem from a 5 percent increase in student enrollment this semester.
The junior college has added a student parking lot on the east side of the campus and made an agreement with the Presbyterian church which is next to the campus to add some spaces there for students to park.
They also added spaces in an area previously occupied by portable classrooms.
The chief says every year the college looks at the parking demand and if there's a need for more spaces. Right now, he says there are no plans for a new parking garage or parking lot.
