Two arrested after using dating app to rob Tyler man

TYLER - Two men were arrested by the Tyler Police Department Friday after robbing another man at knifepoint in a Tyler apartment.

Police said the victim was invited to the apartment by a man he had met on a dating app.

The victim told police that the two men let him into the apartment, then wielded a knife and demanded his wallet and cell phone.

The suspects left the apartment, leaving the victim inside, according to police. The victim was able to call police from the cell phone of a person he sought help from in the parking lot.

The suspects returned to the apartment while police were in the apartment. Another man who was asleep in the apartment told police the suspects were visiting him and had stayed at the home.

Alexander John Breaux, 21, of Tyler, and Stephen Paul Maynard, 26, of Jacksonville, were charged with aggravated robbery, according to police.

They were booked into the Smith County jail Friday and are being held on a $50,000 bond.
