COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The College Station Bomb Squad neutralized two suspicious items found near the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum Monday.
According to Lieutenant Allan Baron with the University Police Department, a maintenance worker discovered plastic piping attached to a cup around 8:15 a.m., on a trail behind the library. The bomb squad used a water cannon to render the item safe.
As the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI's) Evidence Recovery Team was collecting pieces of the original object, they located a second object. A water cannon was again used to neutralize the item.
The FBI spent much of the afternoon collecting pieces of both items. Police say no harmful odors or chemicals were found. The all clear was given around 6:15 p.m.
Baron says he does not know if President George H.W. Bush or his wife, Barbara, were near the library on Monday.
