Tyler PD investigating cell phone theft

TYLER - Officers from the Tyler Police Department are looking for five suspects involved in the theft of over $43,000 worth of cell phones from a Sam's Club in Tyler on Sunday.

Four women and one man entered the store, loaded a mattress and other merchandise on a flat cart to hide themselves from shoppers and employees while they cut the lock off a storage unit to get to the phones.

Police believe that the female suspects packed the merchandise inside of compartments inside their dresses to leave the store undetected.

Video from the store camera shows the suspects getting into a small dark SUV and leaving the scene.

Since the theft, Sam's has placed the merchandise units elsewhere to prevent this from happening again.

If anyone has any information regarding the theft, please contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000, or Crimestoppers at 903-597-CUFF (2833).

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the suspects' arrest and subsequent charges against them.
