Shots fired during church choir practice

Tyler church shooting disrupts choir practice

TYLER - What started out as a peaceful church choir practice turned into chaos after multiple shots were fired at Higher Heights Baptist Church. It happened on Wednesday night around 8:30 p.m., according to Tyler police.

After police responded and arrived to the scene, they were told by members of the church that they heard gunshots outside the church.

Police found several bullet holes that hit the front of the building. Tyler Police spokesperson Don Martin said all shots came from the same direction.

No injuries were reported.

Neighbors tell CBS19 the shooting isn't surprising.

"There's always a shooting," said Jonathan Seaton, who lives in the area. "Nothing really surprises me these days."

Officers on the scene are trying to find anyone that may have information regarding this incident.
