UPDATE: Local chiropractor out of jail on bond, drug trafficking violations

TYLER - UPDATE: (KYTX) - After being held for months in Smith County Jail, local chiropractor, Stacy Allen Godsey is out on bond.

A local Chiropractor is jailed on new charges of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance, and engaging in organized criminal activity.

Stacy Allen Godsey, 43, is out on bonds totaling $300,000.

Godsey was arrested in April for possession of a controlled substance.

At that time sources told CBS 19, Godsey had more than one gram of the drug in his possession but less that four grams.

Officers searched his home at 3020 Meadowlark Lane on April 1. They found a safe with guns, money, at least two types of steroids, cocaine and methamphetamine.  Police say Godsey admitted to using the steroids and meth and officers determined that use fell within the same time he was treating patients at his chiropractic clinic.

Godsey is a licensed Chiropractor in the State of Texas and he's permitted to see patients for medical purposes but it prohibited by law from prescribing medication of any kind.

Godsey was released on bond on a $100,000 bond in April.

Some patients of Godsey's took to our Facebook page to defend the doctor.

Shannon Dewitt wrote, "I've known Stacey Godsey since we were kids going to school together. He is a great chiropractor and has helped me tremendously. Don't believe everything you read in the papers. Prayers to Stacey, his wife and children."

Crystal Hardy wrote, "This guy saved me from surgery and steroid shots in my neck. I hate to hear this and I hate it for his family, who was always very nice to me. Prayers for his family."
