UPDATE: Man who shot at Corrigan PD officer arrested

MONTGOMERY COUNTY - Man in connection with Corrigan PD officer shooting taken into custody.

Derrie Derwin Scott, 54 was arrested in Willis, Texas Thursday for Attempted Capital Murder.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Scott in Polk County following an investigation into a early morning traffic stop and subsequent shooting that occurred August 23.

A Corrigan Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the occupant of the Jeep exited the vehicle and discharged a handgun multiple times in the direction of the officer.

The officer sustained no injury from the exchange of gunfire. The shooter fled in the Jeep. The Jeep Grand Cherokee believed to have been used by Scott during the shooting was recovered on Sept. 15, in Trinity County by Texas Rangers and the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office.

This is an ongoing investigation.
