MARSHALL (KYTX) - South Marshall Elementary school in Marshall was placed on lockdown between 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to Marshall ISD's PR/Communications Officer David Weaver, the lockdown was a precautionary measure to secure safety of students and staff.
Students were dismissed on time and all afternoon scheduled activities have not been canceled.
Weaver stated in a press release that "South Marshall Elementary was placed on lockdown earlier this afternoon by school officials as a precaution to secure students and staff. There was no direct safety threat to students or staff at South Marshall. Local law enforcement were notified and after further investigation it was determined that students and staff were never in any imminent danger. Classes continued, students were dismissed safely and on time and the after-school ACE Program continued as scheduled."
