Longview apartment residents respond to recent crimes

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Lindsey Lucky says she's not scared of a home invasion.

"They might be more afraid of coming into my house, than me afraid of them coming into my house, you know what I'm saying," Lucky said.

Lucky lives at Parkway Gardens Apartments -- one building away from the scene of a robbery one week ago. She says she's not changing her way of life.

"I don't even feel insecure about anyone breaking in. I didn't even know someone had broke in," she said.

On Jan. 21, Longview police arrested 19-year-old Conan Lars Rowley and a juvenile for robbing a Parkway Gardens' apartment home at gunpoint.

The next day, four people were hospitalized following a shooting and arson at Village South Apartments.

In that case, police arrested 24-year-old Roger Hall, of Marshall, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He remains in jail tonight.

And police have arrested three people in connection with a Dec. 17 home invasion at Towne Oaks Apartments. Police said one of the suspects, a 17-year-old, was shot to death by someone living in the home.

Dimitri Lewis heard about the robbery from neighbors. He says its neighbors that help him and his fiance feel safe, even during a robbery a few doors away.

"Keep an eye out for other neighbors as well, not just our things, but almost like a Neighborwood watch sort of thing," he said.

Donovan Lewis -- no relation to Dimitri -- said he also feels safe at Parkway Gardens.

"A majority of the time, if I'm not at home, I try to have someone at my place," Donovan Lewis said.
