Longview barber shop owner shot during Thursday night robbery

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Longview police say a barber shop owner was shot during a robbery Thursday night.

According to police, the owner said he was locking up the shop in the 2000 block of High Street for the night shortly before 8 p.m. when the suspect pulled up in a maroon Toyota or Mazda four-door 90s-model car. The suspect was a black male dressed in a ski mask, tan jacket with a hood and blue jeans, and he produced a handgun and demanded money, police said.

The suspect then shot the victim one time and pointed the gun at him again while continuing to demand money; the victim threw down his money, the suspect picked it up and fled the scene, according to police.

 The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
