LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Nearly 400 students, faculty and staff of Letourneau University are expected to participate in the community service day as they volunteer to do clean-up projects and develop relationships with agencies and nonprofits in the city. Most of the students will be working at Lear and Kidsview parks.
The event is set for 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 and will take place at Kidsview Park, Newgate Bargain Center, and the Hwy. 80 women's shelter.
"Longview Blitz is a part of our spiritual emphasis week," said LETU Chaplain Dr. Harold Carl, who organizes this event. "Spiritual Emphasis Week reminds us that serving others is an integral part of spiritual growth, like learning about the Scriptures and growing with God. These projects are led by floor chaplains who have coordinated with the agencies they will serve. We count it a privilege to serve our community."
