Longview F.D. Begins Annual, M.D.A. Benefit

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - The Longview Fire Department has started its Annual Fill The Boot Campaign. Longview Firefighters will be standing at various Longview intersections throughout May. The men and women will hold their work boots out to collect change from passing cars.  The funds will go to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

In just two days, the Longview Fire Department has raised over $2,000 and Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary says it's just the tip of the iceberg.

"Firefighters get sun burned being out there but they love it. They know it makes a difference and you almost have to pry them away from that duty because they want to be out there." - Johnny Zackary, Longview Fire Department.

This is the 60th year the Longview Fire Department has held a fund raiser for M.D.A. The money will help send kids with Muscular Dystrophy to a summer camp.

Firefighters will be collecting change on these dates.

May 16th, 17th, 23rd.
