Longview man arrested in weekend murder

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Police arrested a 43-year-old Longview man on a murder charge this morning.

Cedric Bernard Carldwell was taken into custody at Longview police department's Criminal Investigations Division on west cotton street at 1:14 this morning.

The victim was 63-year-old Huey Gray, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds on Walnut Street in south central Longview, according to Longview police spokeswoman Kristie Brian. Gray was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Carldwell is being held in the Gregg county jail on $175,000 bond.

His criminal history shows a 1992 conviction for aggravated robbery, in which he served 15 years in prison; and  a 2007 conviction for attempted kidnapping, in which he served two years.
