Death of 4-month-old infant ruled homicide, Longview police investigating

UPDATE: LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - The man suspected in the death of his 4-month-old girl was booked into the Gregg County Jail Monday on a murder charge.

22-year-old Kendrick Jamal Elliott is being held on $100,000 bond according to Gregg County judicial records.

Longview police began investigating the death of four-month-old Ja'Kavieonna Javette Elliott in August 2013, and ruled the baby's death a homicide.

According to the autopsy, performed at Forensic Medical of Texas in Tyler, Ja'Kavieonna died of blunt impact to her head. Pathologist Robert E. Lyon determined that the infant suffered a skull fracture and galeal contusions, and there was blunt impact to the torso, including acute rib fractures and rib fractures that were healing, according to the autopsy.
