Longview mother arrested Monday for cutting son with wine bottle

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - A Longview mother is in jail on first degree aggravated assault/family violence charge after police said she cut her son with a wine bottle.
According to court records, Longview police arrested Vernetta Redwine, also known as Vernetta Johnson, after her son told officers that she cut him - first on his left tricep, and then three more times in the stomach. Redwine was intoxicated and got into an argument with the victim before she grabbed a wine bottle, followed her son outside, broke the bottle and began stabbing the victim as he was trying to contact his father.
Officers had been to Redwine's home in the 600 block of Electra Street several times Monday night before her arrest. According to court records, she invoked her Miranda rights and refused to speak with police without a lawyer.

Redwine is in the Gregg County Jail this afternoon on $10,000 bond.
