Lufkin Crime Stoppers seeks help in solving San Augustine murder/arson

Lufkin Crimestoppers:

LUFKIN (KYTX) - Crime Stoppers of Lufkin needs your help solving the murder of Kavy Neil Sowell.

Emergency responders found the body of 62-year-old Kavy Neil Sowell March 17, 2014 in the burned remains of his San Augustine County residence.  An autopsy revealed that Sowell sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators from the San Augustine County Sheriff`s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas State Fire Marshal`s Office are working together to solve this murder but you can help.  While the investigators have heard that Sowell was having trouble with specific people, none of the information received so far has positively linked a suspect to the crime.

A video camera captured images of a person outside Sowell's residence minutes before the fire.  The video, included below, shows a person walking toward Sowell's residence and, ten minutes later, walking back toward the roadway.  The image included here shows the person coming and going from the area of the residence.

The investigators do not know if or how this person was involved in the murder or arson but being so near the crime just before it occurred makes them a person of interest.

Although the video resolution is low, someone viewing it will recognize the person and any information they provide regarding the person's identity will assist the investigators.

If you can identify this suspect, call Crime Stoppers of Lufkin at (936) 639-TIPS or click the "Solve this Crime" link below to submit tip.
