Lufkin woman accused of scratching police officers during shooting investigation

LUFKIN (KYTX) - A 20-year-old Lufkin woman is jailed after she was arrested for assaulting two police officers while being taken into custody during a police shooting investigation at Winston Park.

Lufkin Public Information Officer Sgt. David Casper says Maya Webber was attempting to remove her car that was parked in a crime scene taped area when she was told by police she could not drive her car away.

Webber began yelling and screaming at officers. Police ran a check on Webber and found she had an outstanding 2013 warrant for a drug offense.

As police were attempting to arrest her, she allegedly scratched two officers. Both were treated for minor cuts at the scene.

Webber was booked into the Angelina County Jail and charged with resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer and drug possession.

The shooting incident is under investigation. one person remains hospitalized in Houston in critical condition. Two other people were shot in the leg and treated and released at a Lufkin hospital.

No arrest have been made in connection with the shooting.
