Lufkin woman guilty of selling patients' health information

LUFKIN (KYTX) - A Lufkin woman says she's guilty of selling personal health information of patients to two Houston men.

33-year-old Joneshia Cranford worked for a health care provider in the Lufkin area.

She admitted to stealing patient names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and medicare and medicaid numbers.

Those actions violate the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Cranford faces up to 10 years in prison.
