Man arrested after walking into furniture store wearing only briefs

TYLER (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Leticia Duran said the morning was going pretty normally until a skinny Hispanic man wearing only a pair of boxers and covered in scratches showed up at her place of work.

Ms. Duran was working at Adams Furniture on Loop 323 and Lavender Road when the man walked in shortly after 9:30 this morning.

"I was scared, because he said he had been robbed and the people were chasing him with guns and chainsaws. I was like, ‘What?'" she said.

Ms. Duran then said a call was made to 911 to report the incident, and Smith County Sheriff's deputies promptly responded.

Less the a mile away from the furniture store in the 9000 block of Lavender Road, deputies questioned the man and had EMS check him out before placing him under arrest.

John Moore, the department's public information officer, said he was not sure of all the charges, but said "You just can't go walking into businesses with no clothing on."

Ms. Duran said she hopes the rest of the day will be uneventful.

"I was really scared because I didn't know if he was telling the truth or he was high on something," she said.
