Man shoots self inside Vista Ridge Mall in Lewisville

LEWISVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - Police are on scene of a shooting inside a shopping mall in Lewisville Monday afternoon.

The incident happened just after 4 p.m. Monday at the Vista Ridge Mall off I-35E and MacArthur Blvd.

Lewisville Police spokesman Capt. Kevin Deaver tells KRLD the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute with an employee of one of the stores.

Police say a man was taken into custody by mall security after the dispute, and shot himself as he was being escorted out of the mall.

The man's gun had been concealed inside his clothes.

No one else inside the mall was shot, and the mall remains open.  The shooting took place near a courtyard in the center of the mall.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival from his self-inflicted wound.

The man's name will not be released until next of kin are notified.

Lewisville Police are still on scene and investigating the case.
