Man wanted for aggravated kidnapping and assault on a police officer captured in Texarkana

(KTBS) - A man is in police custody after a series of events in Texarkana, Arkansas.

Police on both sides of the state line were contacted by the US Marshal's Office to assist with man wanted on a felony warrant.

The man has been identified Eric J. Phillips, 36.

Police say that just before p.m. Tuesday, Texarkana, Texas, Police spotted Phillips at the Whataburger drive through on N. State Line.

Authorities say Phillips fled in his vehicle but not before attempting to hit one the police officers with his vehicle.

Texarkana, Arkansas police officer caught up with Phillips in front of the Days Inn Hotel and shot out his tires. A chase ensued and Phillips is said to have jumped over the roof of the hotel.

He was captured minutes later at Walmart's Lawn and Garden Center.

Prior to today's events he was wanted for aggravated kidnapping aggravated assault on a police officer, evading arrest, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
