Manhunt for Indianapolis man underway in Polk County

POLK COUNTY (KYTX) - A manhunt is underway in Polk County after a Department of Public Safety trooper stopped a vehicle on US 59, near Seven Oaks for speeding just before 10 a.m. Wednesday.

According to DPS Trooper David Hendry, during the questioning of the driver, the trooper learned that the car was stolen and placed the driver under arrest.

The driver, identified as 25-year-old Dennarious Cortes Banyon of Indianapolis, hit the trooper in the head and fled the scene into the woods .

Polk County deputies and DPS along with search dogs are helping look for the man.

The two other passengers, 29-year-old Anthony Depaul Evans and 22-year-old Quintez Dwight Wilson both from Indianapolis, were arrested on a misdemeanor charge after marijuana was found in the vehicle.

They are both in the Polk County Jail.

Trooper Hendry tells CBS 19 that Banyon is wearing a red tank top and black shorts.
