Marshall police charge 19-year-old with multiple offenses

(KYTX) - About 7 a.m. Tuesday, the Marshall Police Department received a call from the 600 block of Pinewood Drive in reference to a burglary of a vehicle in which a rifle was reported stolen.

Shortly thereafter, MPD Communications received a 911 call regarding a black man running in the same area carrying a rifle. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the subject.

About 10 a.m., MPD Communications dispatched officers to the 700 block of Rosewood Circle in reference to a black man armed with several rifles. Upon officers arrival the black man ran from the location. Officers gave chase, and the man was apprehended.

The subject was identified as Corey Lee Johnson, 19, of Marshall. After further investigation Johnson was booked into Harrison County Jail for six counts of burglary of a vehicle - Class "A" Misdemeanor and burglary of a building (State Jail Felony), two counts of Theft of a Firearm (2 counts) (State Jail Felony, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (State Jail Felony) and Evading Arrest/Detention (Class "A" Misdemeanor).

All of the charges where committed between December 10, 2012 at approximately 7:45pm and December 11, 2012 at approximately 6:55am, except for the charge of Burglary of a Building that was reported on October 26, 2012.
