Meeting set to discuss no-kill animal shelter for Gilmer

GILMER (KYTX) - Upshur County Hope House for Pets is moving closer to building a no-kill animal shelter for Gilmer. On July 21st at Gilmer's First United Methodist Church, a meeting and fundraiser will be held. In February, the organization held a Casino Night to raise funds. President Cherie Nazzal currently runs a small, no-kill shelter in the back of her vet clinic in Gilmer. She says most strays end up at the Humane Society of Northeast Texas in Longview, and their fate is usually death.
