Moisture returns to East Texas, rain expected early next week

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Moisture is beginning to return to East Texas.

Clouds held temperatures in the high 80s early in the afternoon at Tyler and Lufkin while at the same time Longview was in the mid 90s under partly cloudy skies.

Areas that break out from under the clouds before late afternoon will see high temperatures around 97 degrees.

Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms are forecast for Wednesday afternoon, but high temperatures will still reach the mid 90s. The weather pattern will change Friday night as a cold front over the eastern states backs into our area bringing a slight chance of rain.

Temperatures over the weekend will be lower. Forecast models are not yet in agreement on how good our chances for rain will be early next week, but they should be somewhat higher than they have been this week.
