LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - More than $5 million in improvements are coming to the East Texas Regional Airport.
Contractors are working to completely renovate the airport terminal in time for the Christmas traveling season. That project costs just more two million dollars.
Today, county commissioners accepted more than $2.9 million dollars from the Federal Aviation Administration to construct a service road around the airport's perimeter
"It provides us access for our fuel trucks to get over to Letourneau. It provides access for our rescue vehicles to get to other areas of the airport that, currently, have to go through dirt to get to," Airport Director Roy Miller said about construction of the perimeter service road.
Construction of the service road is scheduled from October until July. Miller said the work will not interfere with the safety and comfort of travelers.
