Motorcyclist killed in 2-vehicle wreck in Cherokee County

CHEROKEE COUNTY - A motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and killed after hitting a another vehicle trying to make a left turn on a Cherokee County road Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning. A DPS preliminary report states that 26-year-old Dustin Michael Jones was traveling west on Highway 79 on his motorcycle when 44-year-old Shantell Lee Jarnigan turned in front of him in his car while making a left turn onto County Road 4208.

Jones crashed into Jarnigan's car and was thrown from his bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
