Nacogdoches Juvenile Charged with Arson

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY (KYTX)- The Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office has arrested a juvenile under the age of 15 for the offense of Arson after a house was burned down on highway 21 E Wednesday Morning. Sheriff Jason Bridges stated that Deputies responded to a trailer house fire that was fully engulfed around 7:00 am.

After the fire was extinguished, Sheriff Investigators arrived on scene and believed that the house fire may have been intentionally set. Fire investigators with the City of Nacogdoches responded to the scene and confirmed that the fire was intentionally set.

On Wednesday morning, Sheriff Investigators identified a juvenile suspect who was taken to the Sheriff Office to be interviewed. Sheriff Investigators obtained other evidence during the investigation that linked the juvenile to the crime. During the interview the juvenile confessed to setting the house on fire.

The juvenile has been arrested on Charges of Arson a 2nd felony and a charge of ON-LINE IMPERSONATION F-3. The online impersonation charged stemmed from an ongoing investigation that the sheriff office found the juvenile was using text messaging and social media sites to send vulgar messages and claiming those messages were coming from other people.

The juvenile was transported to the Gregg County juvenile Detention Center.
