NACOGDOCHES/NACOGDOCHES COUNTY (KYTX) - Nacogdoches police are investigating the aggravated robbery of an off-duty probation officer.
According to police, the officer had parked his vehicle in a parking in the 1100 block of Shawnee Street on Sunday, and as he walked in front of a parked light-colored Chevy Impala, a man exited the passenger side of the Impala and threatened the victim with a handgun. The suspect took the victim's wallet and a handgun he was wearing, then got back into the Impala and fled south on Shawnee.
Police describe the suspect as a black man about five-foot-ten-inches tall weighing 110 pounds. No injuries were reported, and the victim was licensed to carry the handgun.
"The victim is employed as a probation officer. He was off duty at the time, not acting in an official capacity. It does not appear that his employment status had any connection with this crime," police said. "As with any violent crime, we will not be releasing the identity of the victim in this aggravated robbery case. The investigation is continuing."
