(CBS) - Life at the Washington Navy Yard will slowly start to return to normal this morning. The base will re-open today.
It has been shut down since Monday. That's when 34-year-old Aaron Alexis opened fire in a building there on Monday killing 12 people before police killed him. The FBI is still investigating building 197 where the massacre happened. It was there that police found 34-year-old Aaron Alexis's gun, etched with two cryptic phrases: the first said "better off this way," the second "my E-L-F" weapon. Investigators are trying to determine the meaning.
