New fire station proposed for Cumberland Gap area in southwest Tyler

(TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Tyler fire department officials are proposing a new fire station for the Cumberland Gap area in southwest Tyler. It is proposed for the intersection of Cumberland Road and Cherry Hill Drive.

According to Tyler fire officials, the new fire station would create comparable fire coverage for all areas of the city.

Consolidation of Tyler fire districts 1 and 4 is also being proposed, with one station at Gentry and Palace to serve that area.

The Tyler Fire Department gave a presentation on these items and more at this morning's city council meeting. We will post additional details shortly.
