One person dead after train and vehicle collide

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Longview Police were dispatched to a train accident Friday morning.

When officers arrived they learned a silver GMC Sierra had struck a Union Pacific train on the railroad tracks in the 4000 Block of Estes Parkway.

According to the investigation police learned the truck, driven by 29 year-old Andrew J. Gooden of Hempstead, was traveling southbound in the inside lane of Estes Parkway. The driver failed to stop and struck the train in the intersection of Estes Parkway and the railroad tracks.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation and alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
