TYLER (KYTX) - Have you ever wanted the chance to touch the lives of needy children, but didn't think you could afford to help?
We may have the answer.
Carla Jackson helps coordinate Operation Christmas Child sending shoe boxes full of small items like toiletries, school supplies and toys to children in third world countries.
Today kicked off the donation season at Faith Community Church.
Jackson says this small expression can change children's lives.
"I hear over and over the children that receive these, they say they feel rich when they get these boxes. They open them up and have school supplies so they can go to school. Many children can't go to school unless they have school supplies. Many of them have never had a toothbrush of their own," says Area Coordinator Carla Jackson.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the world-wide effort.
The group will ship it's 100-millionth box.
