Palestine Police arrest three for aggravated kidnapping


PALESTINE (KYTX) - From Palestine Police Department


On July 27, 2013 shortly before 1:00am officers from the Palestine Police Department responded to a possible kidnapping. Police received a 911 call in which a female alleged that a man had been taken at gunpoint and was being held in a truck against his will. The caller gave the police dispatcher the information on the truck and a description of the offenders.

Palestine Police located the truck on Loop 256 near Spring St. After some investigation police arrested three men. Those arrested were 59 year old Jerry Dyches, 40 Year old Scott Kindle and 36 year old Danny Smith. All three men gave a Crockett, Texas address.

The initial police report indicated that the victim advised that he went to a home located off FM 320 in Anderson County. The victim told police that once he reached the residence, the three men came from behind a house and assaulted him. The victim claimed that he was hit with a metal baseball bat, a metal flashlight and was threatened with a gun. It was also alleged that the victim was forced into a truck with the men and driven away from the scene. Palestine Police located the truck and made the subsequent arrest.

All three men were taken to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office for processing. The men will be booked in on a charge of Aggravated Kidnapping which is a first degree felony. The punishment range for a first degree felony is from 5 years up life in prison. Mr. Kindle was also charged with the offense of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon is a second degree felony and carries a punishment range of up to 20 years I prison.

The victim was transported to the Palestine Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. The victim's injuries were not life threatening.
