Palestine police investigate possible child abduction

PALESTINE (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - The Palestine Police Department is investigating a possible child abduction.

On Monday, officers from the Palestine Police Department were dispatched to the home of an alleged victim.

Once on scene, police met with the victim and her father. Police were informed that the victim was waiting for the school bus when a stranger approached the victim. The victim reported being taken from the bus stop to another residence without her consent. The victim was able to exit the residence before being injured.

Detective David Kassaw and Detective Cathy Weber are the lead investigators of the case. Detectives will be following up on information received during the initial stages of the investigation. Detectives have begun to talk with persons living in the area in an attempt to obtain further information and help in locating a possible suspect.

The incident in question took place in the 100 block of Brierwood Drive in Palestine. Police are asking that if anyone in this area saw any person or suspicious vehicles to call the Palestine Police Department 903-729-2254 or CRIME STOPPERS at 903-729-TIPS (8477).

The Palestine Police Department would not release further details Monday night.
