CARTHAGE, TEXAS - Parents allege their 8-year-old daughter was assaulted by a Carthage ISD elementary teacher and have filed a complaint with the Carthage Police Department Tuesday afternoon.
According to the parents, the assault happened during an elementary P.E. class.
The parents also allege that Carthage ISD has done nothing to reprimand the teacher, who is still there.
CBS19 reached out to Carthage ISD and received the following statement from Superintendent Dr. Glenn Hambrick:
I am familiar with the alleged abuse by a teacher. I have viewed the video which shows a teacher in her PE class moving children around in preparation for playing a game. There is no indication that any abuse of a student occurred. It appeared to be a normal class routine.
According to the parents, there are bruises on their daughter, and she is showing signs of trauma about the situation. She has since been moved to a different class.
