Petapalooza draws crowds for annual pet adoption event

TYLER (KYTX) - Bergfeld Park went to the four legged Saturday as more than 200 dogs, cats, donkeys and even miniature horses were brought out for the second Petapalooza adoption event.

Animal rescue groups from all over east Texas were set up at the park offering adoptions, vaccinations and a lot more.

Organizers say events like this, is a great way to find homes for many homeless animals.

"They come from the shelter, there's more animal in the shelter. If you want an animal the best answer is to adopt it," said Pat Caldwell with Petapalooza.

On top adoptions, organizers hope to bring awareness to the importance of spaying and neutering your pets to cut down on the amount of animals that end up in shelters in the first place.
