LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Pine Tree High School was placed on lockdown after school hours this afternoon, according to Superintendent Dr. T.J. Farler.
Farler says that a parent called the school after the end of Friday's classes, telling administrators that her child was threatened by another student earlier in the school day. Because there were teachers and students still on campus - including tryouts for the drill team line - the school decided at 4:05 p.m. Friday to go on lockdown as a precautionary measure, Farler said.
None of the students involved in the incident have been found on campus this afternoon, she said. Additional Pine Tree ISD administrators and a school resource officer are in the high school gym with students at the drill team line tryouts as an added precautionary measure, she said.
"We respond seriously to any calls that our parents provided to us," Farler said.
