Pink Heals fire engine stops by Longview school to support teacher battling cancer

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Firefighters joined students at a Longview school this morning to support a teacher battling breast cancer, and two other women who have survived the disease.
Longview firefighters escorted the pink heals fire engines onto campus at Hudson PEP Elementary School today.
Students and teachers dressed in pink held a pep rally of support for cancer patient Leslie Konvalin, as well as survivors Jennifer Mathis and Sharon Jenkins, who have survived cancer.
"It's an incredible blessing. God has blessed me with this support. Everyday, they cheer me up or keep me fighting, and it's an awesome, it's overwhelming," Konvalin said.
"It's a blessing to be here today, and I'm going on 13 years surviving," Mathis said.
More than a dozen firefighters and hundreds of students cheered as these ladies signed the pink heals buses.
The celebration was all part of a mock fire drill at the school.
