Police investigate double shooting as murder-suicide

(FROM BOSSIER CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT) - Bossier City Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred Wednesday afternoon at a local business.

Police and fire crews were called to the Texture and Tones Hair Studio and Boutique in the 1600 block of Airline Drive at approximately 4:30 p.m. in reference to shots fired. When they arrived on the scene they found a man and woman inside the business dead from gunshot wounds.

An investigation by detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit determined the man identified as Lavance Deshannon Williams, 43, of Minden, Louisiana shot his estranged wife, Lashontay Jimese Lewis, 33, of Minden, Louisiana shortly after he arrived at the business which houses a tax service that Lewis operated. Based on evidence at the scene and statements from witnesses, it appears Williams shot Lewis during an argument and then shot himself.

Several others were inside the business at the time of the shooting including the couple's 11-year old son, none of whom were injured. Bossier City police are continuing their investigation into the shootings and have no records of prior incidents involving the couple.
