The cab driver called police to report that a man was waving a gun at him on the North Freeway. A Houston Police Department helicopter found the car and radioed in the location. That is when a police officer initially made contact and turned on her lights and sirens, but never had the chance to chase the suspect.
"Technically (she) never engaged in the pursuit. Was able to turn on the lights and sirens, but the suspect upon seeing her had already immediately exited," said Kese Smith, with HPD.
The pickup truck driver exited the freeway at Gulf Bank and ran through a red light at the intersection. That is where police said he hit another pickup truck, which landed on its side, and the suspect's vehicle caught fire.

Police said ammunition inside the burning pickup truck started to explode.
The overturned pickup truck had three people in it: a man and his two young daughters. But they were wearing seat belts and were not seriously injured.
However, a bumper that was in the bed of the overturned truck ended up hitting the windshield of a silver Chevy sedan.
The driver of the Chevy sedan was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The suspect was also sent to the hospital.?
