Police: Longview teen smiles as he swerved truck at officer

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Police say a Longview teen smiled as he swerved his vehicle at a police officer Wednesday morning.

Maximilian Jimenez, 18, is being held in the Gregg County Jail on $80,000 bond. He's charged with aggravated assault against a public servant, evading arrest in a vehicle and reckless driving.

According to a magistrate's review, Longview police officer Jeff Hall was responding to a criminal trespass call in the 800 block of Oden Street just after 10 am Wednesday. Hall said he saw a white Ford F250 driven by Jimenez turn onto Oden street from Mobberly Avenue at "a very high speed. The trucks tires were sliding around the corner almost losing control of the vehicle in a heavily populated pedestrian area. "

Hall said he stepped into the street wearing his police uniform and displaying his badge to try and stop the vehicle for reckless driving. The driver then looked at the officer, smiled, accelerated and swerved towards Hall, forcing him to jump out of the path to avoid getting hit, according to the magistrates review.

Paul got into his patrol vehicle to try and stop the truck, Which turned east onto Timpson Street at a high rate of speed towards 14th St., before Hall lost sight of the vehicle. Police later found the "heavily damaged vehicle " and Jimenez at his home in the 500 block of Aurel Street.
