Police Say Woman Lied About Stabbing


In an interview with Tyler Police Investigators, Rebecca Jones admitted that she lied about being attacked and stabbed.  The incident never happened.  There is no unidentified suspect and no need for further public concern.   
Jones is facing potential criminal charges for False Alarm or Report, a class A misdemeanor, and False Report to a Peace Officer, a class B misdemeanor. 

UPDATE: TYLER (KYTX) - Tyler Police responded to a call at 3:55 p.m. in the 800 block of South Chilton from a woman saying she had been stabbed.

The victim told officers that she went home to check on animals when she found a man inside her house, according to Lt. Rusty Jacks.

The man stabbed the victim several times with an unknown object and ran through the back door.

The suspect is described as a heavyset white man with brown hair and was wearing a navy blue shirt and jeans.

The victim was identified as 39-year-old Rebecca Jones. Jones was transported to East Texas Medical Center and was treated for superficial wounds.

She is expected to be released.



TYLER (KYTX) - Tyler PD are in search of a man who stabbed a woman in the 800 block of Chilton Road Friday afternoon.


The incident happened just before 4 p.m.

Tyler Police tells CBS 19 that they have set up a parameter around Chilton Road and Rusk Street and are looking for a heavyset white man.

The victim was transported to a local hospital. Her condition is not known. No other injuries were reported.
