A Washington Post poll published Tuesday morning lists Texas in the tossup column in the upcoming election.

A Washington Post poll published Tuesday morning lists Texas in the tossup column in the upcoming election.

"Of all the states, Texas provided the most unexpected result. The Lone Star State has been a conservative Republican bastion for the past four decades," The Post reported. "The Post-SurveyMonkey poll of Texas shows a dead heat with Clinton at 46 percent and Trump at 45 percent. "

As expected, the race is also close in North Carolina, Ohio and Arizona.

The survey of all 50 states was carried out by The Post along with SurveyMonkey. The state-by-state numbers are based on responses from more than 74,000 registered voters between Aug. 9 to Sept. 1.
